Sixth Form contract

At The Whitby High School we are very proud of our vibrant community of Sixth Form students. They
benefit from the best possible educational opportunities, facilities and support in this area. Our school values
of PACE are abundantly present in the Sixth Form. Students are supported to prepare for life after Sixth
Form and engage in a programme of tutorial support and guidance, careers advice, work experience and
visits to higher education providers.

Our Sixth Form students achieve academically in a diverse range of subjects. They care about their local community and we are proud to nurture their development as young people who make a positive contribution to our area. Most importantly, our Students enjoy their time in the Sixth Form with the combination of increased independence, opportunities and support.

In order to ensure the best provision and experience for all of our students they must agree and adhere to
the conditions set out below. Failure to do so may mean that they will lose their place with us.

The budget we have for the Sixth Form for tuition is:

2020/21     4453

Total         13831

We did not use the money in the academic year 2020/21and intend to fully utilise both funds during 2021/22

English & Maths 4+

We are currently providing additional tuition in small groups of a maximum of 5 for a number of students who did not secure a 4 in either English and/or Maths.

English & Maths 5+

In the spring term we will provide tuition, either one-one or in groups of 5 or less, for students who did not get a 5 in either Maths or English in both Years 12 and Year 13. This will prepare them for the summer examination cycle in 2022.

Disadvantaged Students

We intend to provide tuition, either one-one or in small groups of 5 or less for our disadvantaged sixth formers in any subject where there are emerging gaps in their performance in 2021/22. Students themselves may request additional help and support which we can consider.

SEND Students

We intend to provide tuition, either one-one or in small groups of 5 or less for our SEND sixth formers in any subject where there are emerging gaps in their performance in 2021/22. Students themselves may request additional help and support which we can consider.

Other Subjects We intend to provide tuition, either one-one or in small groups of 5 or less, in specific subjects where there has been a significant dip in performance for individuals and it is clear there are gaps in knowledge and understanding that need to be addressed.

Applied Science is already a specific area of concern and other areas may emerge as students undergo further assessments and it becomes clear that further support is required.
