The Whitby Sixth Form

We are very proud of our Sixth Form and we believe in giving young adults access to all the components needed to succeed in further education. This includes offering as wide a variety of courses as possible, committed teaching staff who are experts in their chosen fields, dedicated Sixth Form resources such as a fully equipped study area and modern coffee shop and eating area to name just a few.

We have tried to make this area the ‘one-stop shop’ for information and details about our Sixth Form including our comprehensive prospectus which is available as a downloadable PDF or as an interactive publication. However if you still have questions after reading through this section please do not hesitate to contact our Sixth Form Admin Support –Miss R Hunt or our Director of Sixth Form Miss R Hughes.

What You Can Expect From Our Sixth Form

There are many new opportunities and activities for Sixth Form students which will broaden their outlook on life and help them become more rounded adults. The Whitby High School has a good record of results and many of our students gain success whilst in the Sixth Form. A wide variety of Post-16 courses are available. Details of courses offered can be found in the Sixth Form Prospectus.

We regularly welcome into the Sixth Form a number of students from other schools. The school has a wide range of facilities available for both study and leisure. Students can access study facilities in the Library and Sixth Form Study Room.

Application

Application for entry in the Sixth Form is simple. Prospective students will indicate what subjects that they are likely to choose and should come to school and sign up, either on GCSE results day or September. Conditions of entry must be agreed and signed.

The Lunchbox and Study Areas

The Lunchbox provides our Sixth Form students with a dedicated area to socialise and relax.

Features include:

  • Free access to wi-fi via your tablet or laptop
  • Diner style benches situated around the shop
  • Modern and stylish chairs and tables
  • Leather couches for you to relax

To accompany the Lunchbox we also provide Sixth Formers with a dedicated study area fully equipped with modern computing facilities. Students have access to this area at all times including before and after school.

There is also a dedicated study corridor, again solely for our Sixth Form which is equipped with modern PCs with a huge range of software and packages installed ensuring there are no limitations to our students’ needs.

Prospective Sixth Form students who are new to The Whitby High School are more than welcome to make contact to arrange a guided tour of the facility. Please contact the school using the contact form from the menu to arrange such a visit.
