KEY STAGE 3


Students are continually assessed through classwork and assessment tasks which often form extended homework tasks based on the following themes:


YEAR 7


Our local area – This unit provides a foundation for Geography and introduces students to key concepts, information and terminology

Survivor – This unit focuses on map skills and the ability to apply this and survive in any environment!

The United Kingdom & Europe – This unit focuses on the study of our Nation and contemporary links to the European continent

China – A review of China’s culture, climate, political status and human Geography

Rainforests & Ecosystems- In this unit we explore the biodiversity in the World’s rainforests, the threats they face and solutions to global deforestation

The Big Picture – The big story of how Earth, and we humans, got here.


YEAR 8

 

Africa – The study of human and physical Geography within the continent of Africa.

Population – How our World’s population is changing, developing, causing problems and what solutions we have.

Japan – The study of human and physical Geography within the country  of Japan.

Tectonic Hazards – The study of the Earth’s tectonic features.

River & Coastal Landforms – How does physical Geography effect our landscapes?

Russia - The study of human and physical Geography within the country of Russia.


YEAR 9


Biological and Climatic Hazards – The study of how hazards such as malaria effect countries. Studies investigate how to manage such hazard through GCSE decision making skills.

UN Development Goals – The UN introduced 17 goals they aim to achieve by 2030. Some of the goals include eradicating hunger. We study why they are important goals and whether they are attainable.

Oceans – An overview of ocean ecosystems and how human interaction can provide opportunities and challenges for ocean life.

India - The study of human and physical Geography within the country of India.

Social Development Issues – A GCSE unit on what social issues the World faces today and how we can overcome such challenges.

The Extreme World – The study extreme environments such as deserts and polar regions.
