SCHOOL
PHILOSOPHY & ETHICS

KEY STAGE 5

In years 12 and 13 students study OCR Religious Studies which consists of three core units of Philosophy, Ethics and Eastern Philosophy (Buddhism). The A level offers the opportunity for pupils to study philosophy and ethics in much greater depth, encountering the innovative and influential ideas of a wide range of philosophers over the past two and a half thousand years, from Ancient Greece to the modern day.

Studying this A level enables students to ask profound questions, contemplate their place and purpose in the world, think in unexpected ways, argue persuasively, effectively evaluate the arguments of others, write clear well structured essays and become an intellectual force to be reckoned with! The subject offers transferable skills in abundance, and as it offers unique perspectives on human life, it can be a great source of wisdom, creativity and inspiration for many professions.
